Never Remove the Water in RDR2 (Fishing Mechanics)

Modders who make the water transparent or remove it entirely reveal exactly how RDR2's fishing works — and expose a bizarre legendary fish duplication glitch.

Emplacement Validé

Any fishing lake (demonstration uses mods on PC).

Notes d'enquête

- With transparent water you can see fish swim dynamically; your bait must pass directly in front of a real fish to trigger a bite. - Remove the water and the fish drop to the dry lakebed and can be picked up by hand. - Legendary fish only spawn when you pull out your rod at the right spot — put the rod away and the legendary fish vanishes instantly. - The glitch: keep the rod equipped (forcing the legendary fish to spawn), then mod the water away. The legendary fish gets stuck on the dry ground and duplicates itself endlessly, creating an unlimited pile.

Théorie de l'Affaire

This is a PC-mod demonstration of the underlying mechanics, not a console exploit. The takeaway: legendary fish are spawned by your rod, not naturally present.

Route d'Investigation

Q: Do legendary fish exist before I cast? A: No — they only spawn when you equip your rod at the correct location. Q: Is the duplication glitch on console? A: No — it requires PC mods to remove the water.
